Synthesis & sampling shaking hands in one plugin
PunchBOX easily brings together the best of the two worlds. The expressiveness of synthesized sounds next to the richness and complexity of samples end up delivering top-notch, never-heard and dancefloor-crushing kick sound.

Each of the onboard samples is a little diamond in itself, crafted with professional experience, precious pieces of studio equipment, top-shelf instruments and vintage analog gear. The kick sound synthesizers, originating from highly acclaimed D16 emulations of classic Roland drum machines, were taken to the next level and customized to perfectly fit the purpose of PunchBOX.

Punch Integration Tools This repository provides tools to deploy plain servers, kubernetes clusters and/or punch based platform in a production-ready setup. Most of these tools should be able to run on machine having at least 16GB of ram memory. But is very useful should you have VMs or physical servers as well. Vast quality factory content
The best sound designers out there prepared an arsenal of 1100 samples and 800 presets suitable for pretty much all contemporary subgenres of electronic music. It’s never been easier to keep up or even exceed the most recent trends in music production and sound quality standard. Organized using the reknowned D16 tagging system makes browsing for the right (base) sound easy, efficient and smooth.

An effect rack that get’s your kicks
Fulfilling you every need when it comes to taking a kick sound to the next level drove the PunchBOX dev team to create an effect rack with (almost) unlimited power. Switching effect order by simple drag’n’drop? Varying effect amounts with a simple click? Feeding an effect with only a small proportion of sound generator X? It’s all in there!

Intuitive & inspiring workflow
The PunchBOX dev team worked hard to offer you an interface that understands your needs – and not the usual other way round. You’ll immediate feel like working with Lego and see how simple it is to just activate/deactivate/level the building blocks of a kick sound – and all of that only a mouse click, wheel turn or drag’n’drop away. Not feeling creative today? Not a problem, just browse through the perfectly tagged presets or use the random sound generator!

QUICK OVERVIEW

PunchBox made by D16 Group is a mix of samples, synth modules, and effects…in a rack system with an awesome design. It has that dirty, vintage look. And you can design your kick drum with super high precision, from to deepest low end, to the high end sparkle. You do this using the rack designed module approach, creating your kick drum sound from left to right in the rack.

First shaping the foundation of the kick using samples in combination with synthesis. And finally you can further shape the sound with effect modules: Bitcrusher, Distortion, Filter, Equalizer and Limiter.

And of course, most importantly, it sounds really good. Let me now do a sound demo of presets from the 5 categories within this plugin: 606, 808, 909, Sine and Samples.

THE SOUND

The sound you can get in your kick drums from PunchBox is very flexible, and you have lots of control to create, shape and polish the sound the way you want it. However, the modules themselves give a certain “analog style” workflow and inspire you to get that warm and fat character in your kick drums. Just be careful so that you don’t push it too hard, so watch those levels in your DAW.

MY PERSONAL FAVORITES

  1. The UI is incredibly inspiring with its dirty, vintage and module based design.
  2. The amount of control is astounding. You can even move the order of the effect modules in the signal chain.
  3. You have a lot of presets, which are organized well in the sound bank on drum machine source, on music style, and even on sound character.
  4. On my tests the CPU usage was very low, even with all modules activated.

MY MAIN FEEDBACK

I would have loved if the UI was scalable, because it can be a bit tricky to see the values on the knobs on a high resolution monitor.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS

PunchBox by D16 is a Swiss army knife for all your kick drum needs. I personally added this instantly into my DAW template, replacing sample players mapped to pads, into my own kick drum creation track. That’s how valuable I found this plugin to be.
